Invited talk at Karolinska Institutet

This fall I was invited by my dear collaborator Ljubica Matic to give a talk at their mini-symposium “Atherosclerosis enlightened by single-cell and functional genomics approaches”.

This was a great opportunity to share our ongoing work to digitize the whole-slide images we have from the histological slides in the Athero-Express Biobank Study. We further developed slideToolKit to process WSI faster by upgrading it to python and open-slide, as well as improving the image masking. I showed our results in relation to glycophorin C led by Joost. I shared updates about our ExpressScan, and our approach to have this inform our genetic work in the field of atherosclerosis. On the sidelines I also discussed opportunities for further collaboration: ultimately this laid part of the ground work for the NextGen project in which both we, Clint and his team, and Ljubica and her teams are involved.
